"The Proper Restaurant really is! Friendly service, attractive decor and good food make this local La Cañada business a winner. We're adding it to our go-to list after our enjoyable experience earlier this week. My French dip was scrumptious (au jus AND horseradish sauce served with) and my honey's jambalaya pasta dish was the same. Portions were decent and I had to take my generous side Caesar salad to go. Loved the dramatic black and white photos of Descanso Gardens in the dining room. A nice touch. There is also a happy hour situation with deals on drinks and "bites". Check it out!"

"Had such a great experience at The Proper. The decor is beautiful, they had great beers on tap, the food was delicious, the restaurant is very clean, the staff is super friendly, the restaurant is kid friendly, and they have a fancy coffee machine that is able to whip up delicious coffee. This place checked off all the boxes. We had burgers, chicken tenders, and chopped salad - all very delicious. Can't wait to go back and try more stuff off the menu! "

"I'm a bit of a French dip aficionado in Los Angeles. I've had Philippe's and like it, and I had Cole's before it closed. But by far, The Proper in La Canada has the best French dip sandwich I've ever had. It's actually shaved prime rib on a soft and not overpowering French role, and paired with au jus and a horseradish aioli. It's heaven. I always get their fried brussel sprouts too (so truffle-y, crispy and salty). They make a killer Old Fashion too."

"Made reservations by going on google and tapping the time and it set us up in Open Table. Got there early and were seated immediately in a nice roomy booth. Our fantastic and sweet waiter Jose helped us decide from the wonderful choices and we chose great food. I have been here now three times and have tried three different meals and loved all three. My favorite was the brisket burger with bacon. OMG so delicious and had horseradish and au jus on the side adding to the savory dish. Jose really took good care of us and was so fun to chat with. He made us feel so at home and welcome. I think he needs a raise and a free steak dinner! Seriously he was outstnading. I only wish I had discovered this place long ago. We need more places near the foothills with fine food and wonderful people running it. Keep it coming. And their desserts here are also Fabulous!!! "

"They have done a really good job reopening in a safe and yet enjoyable way. The menu was reduced to a good size combination of options. Many of their favorites were on the menu, so we got what we wanted. The staff was extremely friendly, and very accommodating for any of the health related concerns people might have. Superb food, service, and atmosphere. What else could you ask for?"
